Mr. Earl M. Groff came to Wildwood in 1918 from Reading, P.A. He worked various trades, including a Millwright and a candy maker for Ludens Candies and Cough Drops. He went to work for the T.S. Goslin Lumber Co., in Wildwood, New Jersey, During the summer he rented a store at 2814 Boardwalk and ran various games. In 1925 he installed a grill and started selling hotdogs. The present building was constructed during 1937-38. In 1947 Earl M. retired and turned the reins over to his sons Al & Paul. When Paul passed away, Al and Paul's wife Dorothy continue running Groff's Restaurant. In 1970 the reins were passed again to Al's children. Since 1987 Groff's has been owned and managed by Earl A. Groff, his wife Patricia and their children who continue to this day to proudly uphold the Style and Quality originally created by Earl M. Groff. |
